Carbon
Tetrachloride (CTC) is a hazardous Ozone Depleting Substance (ODS).
Under the Montreal Protocol, India has successfully phaseed
out CTC by 31st December, 2009. In India CTC was widely used in cleaning
applications across various industries such as textiles, yarn spinning,
offset printing, electroplating, precision metal casting, diamond
polishing, metal cleaning etc.
The
German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) offers technical assistance to
industries currently using CTC. In close interaction with industries,
GTZ identifies viable alternatives for known CTC uses.GTZ’s
free-of-cost services aim to provide competent guidance to affected
industries, enabling informed decisions on the substitution of CTC that
do not compromise on quality and competitiveness.
