Refrigeration & Air-conditioning Servicing Sector Society (RASSS)

“Refrigeration & Air-conditioning Servicing Sector Society” (RASSS) has been formed by a group of likeminded people for the development and promotion of the Refrigeration and Air-conditioning (RAC) servicing sector for adopting good servicing practices in the RAC field.
RASSS understand that the RAC servicing sector has been playing a crucial role in the Ozone Depleting Substances (ODSs) phase out programme since India became a Party to the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer including in the current Hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) phase out programme being implemented by India. Several persons, both individuals as well as agencies, in the RAC servicing sector have been closely interacting with the Ozone Cell, MoEF&CC in the various ODS phase out activities including implementation of projects. While there are associations in the foam and RAC manufacturing sector, the two main sectors associated in the ODS phase out program in India, for appropriately addressing the concerns of these sectors, no association existed for the RAC servicing sector. Recognizing the importance and the need to have an association for the RAC servicing sector for appropriately addressing the concerns (Knowledge, skills, behavioral aspects) of this sector, RASSS has been formed as a registered society.

Objectives of the RASSS :
1. Act as a bridge between the National Ozone Unit (NOU), MoEF&CC and the technicians to communicate HCFC phase-out policy information.
2. Collect and provide feedback on the issues/ needs of the technicians to the Government (NOU)
3. Inform the technicians of RAC Sector about new technology developments by organizing training workshops, compiling and distributing newsletters, so that the good practices training would be sustained, even after the completion of activities under the Multilateral Fund (MLF) projects.
4. Assist in the implementation of the certification / Licensing system.
5. Increase the capacity of workshop/ technicians in trading with dealers / suppliers of refrigerants / spare parts.
6. Facilitate compliance with environmental regulations.
7. Formulate an industry code, such as good practices and facilitate the implementation.
9. To promote recovery and reclamation.
10. To encourage Trainers/ Technicians through “Best Trainer/ Technician Award”.
